Claude usage limits

Claude usage limit: when it resets, and a free tracker

When Claude says you've reached your usage limit, the only real fix is time: it resets. This page explains the message, where to find the reset time, and a free helper that counts down to it and keeps your own log, with nothing leaving your browser.

What the limit message means

Claude caps how much you can use over a stretch of time. How much depends on your plan, how long your chats are, and the model, and Anthropic changes it now and then. Your own account is the place to check the current terms.

Anthropic says paid Claude plans have a session limit that resets every five hours and a weekly limit that resets once a week. When you reach a limit, Claude tells you, and usually shows when it resets.

FUSR.ai can't see that limit, can't raise it, and doesn't use your Claude plan for anything.

When it resets

The time Claude shows on screen is the one to trust. Anthropic describes the five hour window as starting with your first message in it, so the reset time moves with how you work. A weekly limit, on plans that have one, resets on its own schedule.

Write the time down, or let the free helper count down to it for you.

Track it with the free helper

The usage helper is a small free page. It needs no account, and what you log stays in your browser.

  1. 01Pick your plans

Tick the chat plans you have: Claude, ChatGPT, Grok. Each one shows what its provider publishes about resets.

  2. 02Press I hit the limit

Type in the reset time the site shows you. The helper counts down to it.

  3. 03See your week

How often each plan hit its limit, at what times of day, and which of your other plans you have not leaned on today. All of it labeled as your own log.

Open the usage helper. It keeps working with no account, for as long as you like.

If you pay for more than one plan

If you also pay for ChatGPT or Grok, the helper shows which ones you have not used today, so you know your options. Moving a chat is up to you. FUSR.ai does not move chats between plans, and each plan's limits stay exactly as they are.

If you code with AI, look at the API

The Claude API is a different product from a Claude plan. It bills per token instead of a monthly price with a cap, and it has its own rate limits. For some people who hit plan limits every week, paying per token costs less than a bigger plan. For others it costs more. It depends on how much you send.

The AI API cost calculator prices your monthly tokens on each model at list price. If you do use the API, FUSR.ai routes each request on your own keys to a model that fits, keeps prompt caching working, and stops at the cap you set. Your providers bill you directly.

Straight talk

What FUSR.ai does and doesn't do

It does

  • Shows each provider's published reset window, with where it comes from.
  • Counts down to the reset time you type in from the screen.
  • Keeps your own log of limit hits in your browser, and sums up your week.

It doesn't

  • See Claude's real limit for your account, raise it, or know it before you do.
  • Read your chats, your cookies, or anything on claude.ai.
  • Use, pool, or extend Claude Pro, ChatGPT Plus, or SuperGrok. Chat plans are separate from FUSR.ai.

Free, and it stays in your browser.

The usage helper needs no account. If you pay for AI APIs too, FUSR.ai Free covers three providers with routing, caching, and a savings report.

You bring your own API keys. Chat plans like Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus are separate and FUSR.ai does not use them.
